Mission
Matrix Music Collaborators, a New York-based mixed
chamber ensemble, is dedicated to the exploration of interdisciplinary
collaborations and preserving the tradition of live performance
set to original music by today’s composers, in addition
to standard classical repertory.
Its primary mission is to encourage and present collaborative
works through the unique approach of bridging different art
forms such as dance, theater, visual art, multimedia, film or
poetry with avant-garde, experimental, classical, contemporary
and world sounds. With a stellar roster consisting of an electrifying
and synergistic group of accomplished musicians from all ethnicity
sharing their musical experiences with each other, this collaborative
partnership will enhance the audience’s experience of
listening as well as watching.
Musicians include top graduates and members of St. Louis Symphony,
The Metropolitan Opera, Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, The
Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, University of Southern
California, New York University, Yale School of Music, Eastman
School of Music, Curtis Institute of Music and Colburn Conservatory,
to name a few.
In addition to collaborative productions, Matrix Music Collaborators
will present six-eight concerts as part of the Matrix
Music Chamber Music Concert Series per year. Each concert
will offer an eclectic mix of classical and contemporary music
by established composers, and also promoting the lesser known
repertoire and composers. These performances will take place
in art galleries, museums, churches, retirement homes, concert
halls, music festivals and local schools, with a goal to promote
and build awareness of live classical music performances by
bringing world-class musicians to rural, inner-city schools
or under-served communities.
Through our Matrix Music Arts-in-Education
outreach program, we aim to partner with a host organization
for a residency ranging from a three-day workshop to as long
as a twelve week program offering workshops, lecture demonstrations,
discussions, masterclasses, open rehearsals or any music related
educational activities. We work closely with the hosting partners
in designing the most suitable program for each residency. Each
program will conclude with a concert showcasing students or
participants.
